Bia Power Italia is pleased to announce that it has secured Regional Authorisation for its 100 MW / 400 MWh Ciminna 1 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the Municipality of Ciminna, Province of Palermo, Sicily. This milestone represents another significant achievement in the Company’s strategy of developing strategically located, transmission-connected energy storage infrastructure to support Italy’s evolving electricity system.

The authorisation marks the successful completion of a rigorous technical, environmental and regulatory process and enables the project to advance into its next phase of development. Ciminna 1 further strengthens Bia Power Italia’s growing portfolio of utility-scale battery storage assets designed to improve grid resilience, enhance system flexibility and facilitate the continued integration of renewable energy across Italy.

Ciminna 1 forms part of the strategic portfolio being co-developed alongside EREN Storage Italia, reinforcing one of Italy’s most significant independent standalone battery energy storage development platforms.
