CIMINNA
The Ciminna BESS is a project located in the township of Ciminna on a 6.73 acre (2.7 hectare) plot of agricultural land. The site is 0.5km from the 150kv Ciminna substation, 1km from Ciminna itself, and 26km from Palermo, the capital of Sicily in South Italy. Its proposed capacity is 100mw /400mwh. The connection point is into a brand new substation directly east of the existing substation. An application for authorisation was prepared and submitted to the Sicilian Department of Energy in July 2024.
CIMINNA EXTENSION
The Ciminna extension is a 100mw 4 hour battery project on a 5 hectare plot of land on either side of the original Ciminna site. It is located in the township of Ciminna, an Italian municipality in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, around 30 km south-east of the provincial capital. The site is on agricultural land, and is 0.5km from the 150kv Ciminna substation as the crow flies. The connection point is into a brand new substation directly east of the existing substation. An application for authorisation was prepared and submitted to the Sicilian Department of Energy in July 2024.
CHIARAMONTE
The Chiaramonte BESS project is located directly north of the Chiaramonte Gulfi 150kv substation, which is 15km from Ragusa in Sicily in South Italy. It is on a 6.27 acre ( 2.5 hectare) plot of land and it’s proposed capacity is 76mw/ 304mwh. The site is predominantly agricultural, and the connection point will be into the existing substation to the south. An application for authorisation was prepared and submitted to the Sicilian Department of Energy in July 2024.
CHIARAMONTE 2
The Chiaramonte 2 BESS project is located about 750m directly west of the Chiaramonte Gulfi 150kv substation, which is 15km from Ragusa in Sicily in South Italy. It is on a 8.15 acre ( 3.3 hectare) plot of land and it’s proposed capacity is 195mw/ 780mwh. The site is predominantly agricultural, and the connection point will be into the existing substation to the east. An application for authorisation is being prepared and the aim is to submit to the Sicilian Department of Energy in July 2026.
SCANDALE
The Scandale BESS project is located on agricultural land in the municipality of Crotone in Calabria, South Italy. The proposed capacity is 88mw/ 704mwh and the connection point is less than 1km away in a new TERNA substation. The application for authorisation has been submitted to the Region in December 2026.
TARANTO 1
The Taranto site is designed as a 100mw 4 hour battery project and sits on a 5 hectare plot of agricultural land. The site is located in the township of Taranto in the Puglia region in the South of Italy. It is 1.9km south of the TERNA “Taranto Nord” Electrical Substation which is also the connection point. An application for authorisation has been prepared and submitted to the region in Dec 2026.
TARANTO 2
The Taranto 2 site is directly to the south of the Taranto 1 site. It is also designed as a 100mw 4 hour battery project and sits on a 5 hectare plot of agricultural land. The site is located in the township of Taranto in the Puglia region in the South of Italy. It is 1.9km south of the TERNA “Taranto Nord” Electrical Substation which is also the connection point. An application for authorisation has been prepared and submitted to the region in Dec 2026.
